Abstract

Revision effort will vary from text to text. Some translations need to be looked at by another translator before they go out to the client; others do not. Some need to be re-read in their entirety; others can simply be sampled by the reviser. Some need to be checked against the source text, whereas with others, it is sufficient to read the translation alone, glancing at the source text only when a passage of the translation seems odd. Some translations should be read for all or most of the parameters discussed in Chapter 11 ; others can be read for just one or two parameters. This chapter looks at the factors determining the degree of revision effort.
