Abstract

The primary goals are to discuss how to continue targeting academic skills using a Problem Solving Plan and to celebrate the teens’ progress at a graduation celebration. In the large group, the Problem Solving Plan for each teen is reviewed and solutions, plans and expectations, and rewards are modified as needed. In the teen group, teens play a game to review all of the information that they have learned and practiced over the last 8 sessions. In the caregiver group, caregivers are provided with additional instruction and resources on addressing skills such as organizing and naming computer files, organizing an email inbox, breaking down long-term assignments, using a study plan to break down the steps for studying for a test or quiz, and using summarizing strategies such as plot diagrams and graphic organizers. Caregivers also receive support and guidance on how to continue to utilize the Problem Solving Plan going forward to increase the use of strategies for academic challenges and build independence in their teen. In the large group, Leaders celebrate the progress that the teens have made in a graduation ceremony. For the Real World Practice Assignment, the teen and their caregiver will update their Problem Solving Plan and continue working on several solutions.
