Artistic Intent
Abstract
This chapter features a series of short interviews with a selection of professional audio engineers at various stages of their careers, working in a variety of music styles. They discuss their views on artistic intent and satisfying clients. Some album credits and achievements of each engineer are included, as well as details of how they work, the type of equipment they work on, and their goals when mixing for clients. The interviews also tie together material presented throughout the book, sometimes offering alternative opinions and methods that become possible with more experience. The interviews close by asking each engineer what they need to produce a good mix and what some of their favourite tools are.
