Abstract

Questions answered in this chapter include why is EQ is necessary in a mix, and what are some typical problems it is used to fix? Suggestions are given for how to identify potential frequency related problems that EQ can fix, including how EQ can correct sonic problems in a sound, and make sounds work together in a mix. Some suggested "golden rules" for effective EQ use are presented, to help the reader avoid common novice mistakes, along with why reasons exist that those rules may need to be broken. The advantages and disadvantages of EQs with analyser and visual displays is included.
