Abstract

Recent decades have seen the proliferation of yoga provision in custodial facilities, with research identifying a variety of related physical and mental health and behavioural benefits. This chapter examines the recent development of a digitally delivered, asynchronous yoga programme offered in one English prison by the Prison Phoenix Trust (PPT), a charity based in the United Kingdom (UK). Following an account of the development and roll-out of this programme, known as the Digital Launchpad Yoga Project (DLYP), the chapter presents an examination of the potentialities of a digital approach to programme delivery and specifically how it may enable greater accessibility to yoga for incarcerated populations.
