Abstract

Chapter 8 describes promising digital approaches to supporting women in the early phase of labour. It begins with a discussion of 24-hour dedicated Labour Lines staffed by midwives before moving into a review of interventions designed to empower women through education and shared experiences. These include web-based interventions (eHealth) and mobile phone technology (mHealth), which have proliferated globally. The authors argue that a digital approach to supporting women in the early phase of labour has the potential to improve experiences and enhance interactions between service users and healthcare providers.
