Chapter 6 introduces my further fieldwork on panda fandom, facilitating the book’s transition from a focus on theory and historical documents to more recent observations gathered directly from the field. This section includes a summary of the data collected during the fieldwork, offering an overview of the panda fandom landscape. The next three chapters incorporate raw materials from this fieldwork to deepen our understanding of panda fandom. While the previous chapters have provided theoretical frameworks and outlined the broader structure of panda fandom, these fieldwork-based chapters zoom in to enrich the discussion with details and personal stories from panda fans actively engaging with the fandom today.
