Abstract

Virginia Scott relays her passion for a Commedia dell’Arte liberated from classical tropes and ready to speak to contemporary matters, as well as discussing her methodologies, collaborators and the sources of her inspiration, including Christopher Bayes, as well as her work with John Coyne. She discusses in detail her methodological approach to building new commedia material with actors, and the pitfalls of relying on the classics and traditions that don’t speak to modern audiences.
