Abstract

Carlos Garcia Estévez reveals his approach to the legacy of Commedia dell’Arte, growing from his encounters with the Sartori family and Jacques Lecoq and evolving toward his work with Manifesto Poetico. He discusses in depth his discovery of Spatial Dramaturgy and his approach to working with masks based on their form. He describes the qualities of improvisation that he seeks in his work and addresses the influence of commedia on his work and the nature of the challenges facing modern theater artists today.
