Abstract

Didi Hopkins describes her journey from the early days of Beryl and the Perils to her career as a movement specialist working on the West End, in New York, and with the Royal Shakespeare Company, informed by her studies in Commedia dell’Arte with Carlo Boso. She reflects on her working relationship with Ninian Kinnear-Wilson and his contributions to her practice. She considers her role in the development of Richard Bean’s One Man, Two Guv’nors , and explores the ways in which commedia can be utilized in modern media including Motion Capture, as well as its abiding influence on theater and storytelling.
