Abstract
I stood at the door to the Black Box theater in my second year of graduate school at Trinity Repertory Conservatory in Providence, Rhode Island. Standing there, I was playing Nora in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House . That day was a cold New England day, much like in Norway on a dark winter day mid-December. Quiet because so far the scene had gone well and our audience—my teacher, Stephen Berenson, and my classmates—were drawn into our scene.
