Abstract

This concluding chapter synthesises the volume&s;s contributions to telecinematic stylistics, highlighting how each study illuminates the multimodal construction of screen narratives. The collection demonstrates how character development emerges through linguistic deviation, metaphor, and visual techniques; how social critique manifests through gendered perspectives and pragmatic interactions; and how immersive worlds are built through corpus stylistics and constructed languages. While acknowledging the volume&s;s Western-centric focus as a limitation, we identify promising directions for future research, particularly in non-Western media traditions and audience reception studies. The chapters collectively reveal that stylistic choices in telecinematic narratives are not merely decorative but foundational to shaping character, emotion, and ideology. By examining how stories are constructed through syntax and soundtrack, lighting and lexis, gesture and gaze, we gain insight into how screen narratives profoundly influence viewers’ perceptions and understanding of the world. As Terry Pratchett suggests, stories don’t just entertain, they shape the minds that watch them.
