Abstract

Africa is undergoing a technological and entrepreneurial awakening that is redefining its social, economic, and innovation landscapes. Technology Entrepreneurship in Africa explores how digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive ecosystems are driving the continent’s transition towards sustainable development. This book examines how entrepreneurs leverage emerging technologies, ranging from fintech and artificial intelligence to clean tech and digital platforms to create new markets, address social challenges, and generate economic opportunity. Drawing on diverse theoretical perspectives and empirical insights, the chapters highlight the interplay between innovation, policy, and inclusion in shaping Africa’s evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem. By focusing on the intersection of technology, crowdfunding, and gender, the volume positions technology entrepreneurship as a critical engine for Africa’s structural transformation. It highlights the creativity, resilience, and contextual ingenuity of African entrepreneurs who, despite institutional and infrastructural constraints, are pioneering new forms of enterprise that blend profit with purpose.
