Abstract

This study reviews emerging technologies within Africa’s burgeoning tech ecosystems. This study employs a literature review approach to understand the interplay between key stakeholders, technological domains, challenges, and outcomes. Thematic analysis identified key challenges such as infrastructure gaps (particularly broadband connectivity and electricity supply), limited access to early-stage funding, and regulatory complexities. However, the study also highlights significant contributions such as fintech innovations like M-Pesa, which has revolutionised financial inclusion, and the growth of tech hubs. This further provides crucial support to start-ups. This study highlights the need for targeted interventions to address infrastructure gaps, improve access to finance, and streamline regulatory frameworks. This in turn unlocks the full potential of emerging technologies and drive sustainable growth across Africa.
