Paradise Lost and Nimrod as Organizing Childhood Narrative
Abstract
In Chapter 2, special attention is given to the first 19 years of Guntrip’s life (1901–1920). Family life and his relationship with his mother played a significant role in Guntrip’s schizoid formation, as well as the loss of his brother in childhood and his absent father. Growing away from the family of origin and the myth of Nimrod serves as organizing themes in his early formation.
