Abstract

In this concluding chapter, we set out the steps in mentoring programme practice and delineate the phases of the mentoring programme: Plan, Operate, Evaluate, and Transfer. The four phases will assist programme managers in designing new mentoring initiatives or evaluating existing ones for further development. Drawing on reflections from the case studies in Chapters 4 – 9 , we outline the key pillars for the effective design, implementation, evaluation, sustainability, and longevity of such programmes. Pillars include: stakeholder engagement and management; purpose and alignment; agility and responsiveness; resourcing and coordination; and knowledge transfer and dissemination. Additionally, we discuss significant advancements in mentoring practices, including digitalisation and artificial intelligence. We close with our final thoughts.
