Abstract

Chapter 7 provides excellent insights into contemporary practices in mentoring programme design, implementation and evaluation in nonprofit organisations. This chapter showcases three mentoring programmes which highlight effective application of mentoring methodology to enhance performance, build talent and leadership, enable transformation and change, increase ethnic diversity, employee well-being and create strong networks and communities. Electricity Supply Board Ireland embarked on a transformational mentoring journey, which is strategically aligned with its Net Zero Strategy 2024 to develop and sustain mentoring relationships to foster leadership, increase employee engagement and drive organisational change. Thrive with Mentoring explores its evolution from a grassroots mentoring initiative into a scalable, community-powered model which is women-led enabling cross-industry and cross-border learning. Action for Children offers a unique example of reciprocal mentoring aimed at increasing the ethnic diversity of its workforce by offering developmental opportunities to support the retention and career progression of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff. Overall, this chapter offers excellent examples of creating objective-led and development focused mentor-mentee relationships through well designed and implemented mentoring programmes.
