Embracing the 'Aha' Moments to Forge a Rich Research Life
Abstract
The Pioneering Social Research project highlights the experiences and practices of the generations who were active from the 1950s to the 1980s, the crucial founding generations for today’s social research scene in Britain. Focusing on 58 of these interviews, this book chapter delves deeper in the moments of discovery or the moments of conversion that underpinned their research process. Crucially, the chapter will engage with the Pioneers’ response to challenges in establishing their career, both personal and academic, while at the same time offering a window into the complex life stories of this generation.
