Level Two (Part 1)
Abstract
Going up the Nature Connection Pyramid, a child establishes a more intimate relationship with nature. This chapter looks at how to creatively engage with nature and how seeing, being and belonging in nature improves wellbeing. The focus is on feeling and doing: running, splashing, jumping, growing and nurturing. It looks at flow, mess and transformation in nature and how tolerating mess and dirt builds flexibility and resilience. Drawing parallels between the creative process and the cycles of nature – growth and decay, stasis and change, death and rebirth – this chapter explores how each helps people develop, supports their wellbeing and is imperative for building a sustainable world.
