Abstract

The top of the Pyramid is reached when a child embraces the reality that a relationship with the natural world is the only realistic way forwards. They understand their personal interdependency on it and the need to reconnect communities with the natural world for wellbeing and a sustainable world. It happens only when all three earlier, less verbal but more embodied, levels of the Pyramid have been established. This chapter describes how children can be supported to have the confidence to embrace their nature connection and feel empowered to take action. It considers how schools and curriculums can be designed with a nature connection in mind. Finally, this chapter ends with five activities for higher nature connection and explains what a child will learn from each one.
