Abstract

Collaborative action research (CAR) carried out between an instructor of a northern Canadian Early Childhood Educator (ECE) diploma/certificate programme and a university research team has been transformational for ECEs, who have come to see themselves as reflective practitioners and gained confidence in their identities as capable professionals. They and their instructors have sought out opportunities to learn from Indigenous Elders in their communities and have gained a deeper sense of pride in their Indigenous languages and cultures. The development of the partnership, including a description of the programme with Indigenous language and culture being an integral component and details of the CAR, is discussed in terms of the core components and enabling factors of the Quality Use of Research Evidence (QURE) Framework.
