Abstract

This concluding chapter brings together learning from the previous chapters to examine the current and future state of intelligence analysis. It will review this evidence to ask if, and to what extent, improvements in intelligence analysis are required to meet future challenges. To do so the chapter will start by reflecting on the past, to discuss how intelligence-led policing has evolved. It will then explore the importance of strategic leadership and infrastructure to set the foundation for improving intelligence analysis. To conclude, the chapter will examine the role of the police analyst, suggesting how their knowledge and skills should develop to improve analysis in an information-rich world.
