Restorative Policies and Procedures
Abstract
Libraries harm students—especially our most vulnerable students—by creating barriers to access through fines, lost book fees, and checkout limits. How we frame the administrative workings of our libraries is just as important as our collections and our spaces in building a healing library program. We can remove barriers to access and literacy by examining our circulation policies, replacing rules with community norms, and relying on student-centered procedures.
