Abstract

This chapter distils several implications of the preceding chapters for understanding and appreciating the highly complex work of contemporary teachers nationally and globally. These implications are centred on the proposition that Australian teachers&s; stratagems for success are clustered around four overlapping yet distinct approaches: value-driven strategies; agentic strategies; adaptable strategies; and relational strategies. The chapter exemplifies each of these strategies by reference to examples taken from the preceding chapters, as well as demonstrating how they work in combination to enhance teachers&s; narratives of motivation and resilience. In doing so, the authors reassert the crucial link between such narratives and teachers&s; success in devising and implementing strategies to maximise their students’ learning outcomes.
