Abstract

Appreciating and acknowledging the deliberate emotional delineation that teachers employ as they traverse their working environments afford opportunities for outsider understanding of this very complex and highly emotive profession. This chapter illustrates the various emotional expressions utilised by teachers who are constrained by professionalism from enacting their real feelings. The chapter also analyses for what reasons, in which ways and at what costs teachers regulate their emotions to enhance that professionalism and as an example for their students, as well as eliciting several agentic practices and strategies gleaned from the selected study interviews that had proved effective for the interviewees in managing their emotional labour.
