Performing the Drinkable
Abstract
The creative process detailed in this intermezzo takes as its starting point the idea that terroir, which manifests in the taste of wine, can also be manifested in a performance based on that wine. Through the Grapevine Performed Wine Tastings feature devised performances that use the taste and smell of wine as a stimulus. Performers are asked to engage with their senses and imagination to listen to the terroir of a wine and embody it in performance. Examining experiences at the intersection of wine tasting and performance-making, Through the Grapevine fosters collective multisensory experiences of a wine’s terroir among performers and audience members.
