Teaching Learning Resources in the Pre-Service Teacher Education Sector
Abstract
Teacher preparation courses actively promote the preparation and use of TLRs. From the now ubiquitous blackboard and textbooks to a variety of teaching learning materials, prospective teachers are trained to use them as part of their repertoire of skills required to become effective teachers. Teaching learning resources (TLRs) are meant to “concretise learning” especially at the elementary school level, engage children in “activity-based learning”, and “help represent content in multiple ways for diverse learners” (NCERT 1988; Yash Pal Committee 1993 ; UNESCO 2008 ).
