Development and Production of Textbooks
Abstract
Textbooks are seen as the key teaching learning resource (TLR) in most Indian classrooms. Despite current educational discourses suggesting that textbooks should not be used as the only resource for teaching learning in the classroom, they continue to be centrally important in schools. Since textbooks are unilaterally accepted as being an integral part of school education, it becomes important to understand the ways in which they are developed in India and the people and institutions responsible for this.
