Abstract

Understanding the political, cultural, and geographical implications of the US–Mexico border is central to the study of Latinx children’s and YA literature. This chapter therefore discusses theoretical approaches to the border and examines texts that take place on, cross over, or complicate the borderlands. Because the border is both a physical location and a metaphorical space, we highlight its wide-ranging impact. This chapter highlights books for a range of ages, from Dreamers by Yuyi Morales (2018) to We Are Not from Here by Jenny Torres Sanchez (2020) .
