Abstract

Latinx children’s and YA literature and media necessarily contend with diaspora and immigration, but it is also important to look more broadly at international Latin American children’s and YA literature and media. This chapter provides a brief survey of Latin American (South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean) children’s texts and media to take a more global approach to the study of youth culture. In addition to introducing readers to global texts, this chapter also examines books published in the US that take place in Latin America, such as Jennifer de Leon’s Borderless (2023).
