Introduction
Abstract
Over the last two decades, the fields of organization studies and medical humanities have increasingly converged in their attempts to address some of the most pressing challenges in health and healthcare. While organization studies offer critical perspectives on the dynamics of institutions, professions, and work systems, the medical humanities bring into focus the cultural, ethical, and existential dimensions of medicine. This volume builds on the conviction that the intersection between these domains holds the potential to generate fresh insights into how health and healthcare are organized, managed, and understood. By exploring this interplay, the book contributes to ongoing debates about professional identity, collaboration, medical decision-making, and wellbeing in both healthcare and society at large.
