Abstract

The third chapter takes the reader step-by-step through the Internal Family Systems (IFS) protocol. It frames the model in terms of its similarities with the mindfulness practices that are now widespread in the West. It instructs the reader on how to introduce the model to adults and children and illustrates the important process of forming relationships with parts and healing them from the burdens they carry from difficult experiences. The chapter provides exercises for the reader to begin to work with their own parts and begins to use some case material to bring to life the power of the IFS model.
