Abstract

Chapter 9 follows the therapy of one boy, Bart, the first child Lisa used IFS with. It highlights the ways in which parts can completely take over a child’s psyche and body, and the methods to help those parts unblend. The chapter also shows how parts of the therapist come into the consulting room and how the therapist must be able to sensitively work with them. Lastly, this chapter illustrates the power of unburdening, as Bart is able to let go of pain and fill that space with positivity.
