Abstract

This introduction presents Multispecies Information Science , the first edited volume to explore a paradigm shift in Library and Information Science (LIS) towards a more-than-human world. It outlines the edited book’s goals, origins, contributors, scope, chapter arrangement, and intended readership. Section 1: Fundamentals , contributed by the chapter authors, spans theoretical and methodological foundations of the multispecies turn as well as transformative perspectives across different areas of LIS. Designed for teaching, research, and professional practice, this section guides readers in applying the multispecies turn across LIS concepts (from foundational topics to contemporary issues) encompassing fields ranging from librarianship to information systems and animal–computer interaction.
