This chapter offers advice and guidance on effectively completing the front matter for your dissertation. While often a formulaic set of materials to compose, completing these sections in an efficient and professional manner is nonetheless important. This chapter examines how to develop an engaging and compelling title, how to make appropriate use of the acknowledgements section of the front matter, and how to develop and write an effective abstract. Guidance on completing relevant pages, including lists of contents, figures, tables, and acronyms, is also provided.
