Abstract

Chapter 3 provides overarching advice and guidance on writing a dissertation with an emphasis on initial structural planning and approaches to writing as a process – paying attention to key considerations such as time management and planning writing time, project planning and milestones, when and where to write, and how to start writing. This emphasis on the mechanics of developing a writing approach sets out to support students in identifying useful strategies that will allow them to write their dissertations while juggling other commitments and recognising that the writing process is not a smooth and linear one.
