Abstract

This step-by-step chapter focusses on advice and support with writing the literature review chapter. One of the more commonly first-drafted chapters, the literature review plays a vital role in setting up the conceptual and/or theoretical framework for the project and subsequent analysis. Advice here begins with understanding what the literature review chapter needs to do within the dissertation and guidance on how to structure this chapter. Attention then turns to the transition from reviewing the literature to writing the literature, including key guidance on scaffolding, flow, and focus in developing a clear and consistent narrative.
