Abstract

The University of Georgia (UGA) is a public land- and sea-grant research university in the Southeastern United States, with a strong commitment to both teaching and learning. The 2023 enrollment included approximately 42,500 students (31,500 undergraduate students, 8,500 graduate students, and 1,500 professional students). Of UGA’s 3,213 faculty, 2,827 are part of the instructional core. The University’s motto – to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things – represents UGA’s trifold mission of education, service, and research. More recently, the university has adopted strategic priorities that include the infusion of active learning into every aspect of a student’s experience while at UGA. This commitment has come with resources to support both instructor and student development, and incentives for departments and individuals to adopt teaching-related projects to enhance the overall quality of our students’ education.
