Abstract

This chapter explores the critical role of assessment in demonstrating the impact of teaching and learning centers. It discusses strategies for measuring outcomes such as faculty satisfaction as well as the adoption of evidence-based teaching practices. The chapter provides an overview of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including surveys, focus groups, and data analytics, as well as frameworks for linking assessment to institutional goals. By distinguishing between outputs (activities delivered) and outcomes (changes resulting from those activities), the authors emphasize the importance of aligning assessment with both mission and accountability demands. Ultimately, the chapter positions assessment as not only a tool for demonstrating value but also as a mechanism for continuous improvement, enabling centers to refine programming and enhance institutional credibility.
