Abstract

Teaching is a passion. Finding a work-life balance can be difficult because of the illusion that passion should be tireless. This chapter explains that passion is a two-sided coin with exhaustion as its companion. Critical thinking skills can support a balance between passion, exhaustion, and recovery. Reflexive practice is a tool that can provide a structure for examining assumptions about how to define success, how to establish healthy boundaries, and create a sustainable, productive practice.
