Abstract

In the teaching profession, practice encompasses the actual approaches, methods, and routines teachers use. It extends beyond how teachers engage students and peers to how teachers think and become mindful about their actions. This chapter describes teacher practice and its key features: pedagogy, relationships, and collaboration. It highlights three hallmarks of practice—reflection, personal and professional well-being, and intentional self-care. The chapter also explores how to support practice by engaging with critical friends, communities of practice, and critical reflection.
