Abstract

This chapter explores the essential role grandparents play in the lives of their adult children and grandchildren. The number of people becoming grandparents has risen as life expectancy has increased. This chapter also considers the sensitive balance grandparents must maintain between being supportive, without perceptions of ‘interfering’ in the parenting decisions of their adult children. By consistently being present and engaged, grandparents help create a stable and nurturing environment that benefits the health and wellbeing of the entire family.
