Abstract

The current state of knowledge in the education policy, educational sciences, and professions is clear about the importance of critical thinking. However, on the other hand, there is a lack (especially in vocational education and training, in further text VET) of a precise and complete concept of teaching for critical thinking that would lead to proposing guidelines for teachers in teaching. This chapter proposes a model of teaching for critical thinking in VET developed on the basis of a generic model. In addition, two focus groups were conducted with VET teachers who evaluated the above model, focusing on its applicability in teaching, citing examples from their own teaching practice, and highlighting the challenges of implementation. Overall, the research findings suggest that the model is applicable in the classroom and that it achieves its aim, namely to innovate the initial training of VET teachers and to support the VET teachers in practice.
