Abstract

This final concluding chapter provides an overall synthesis of the discussions and findings of the monograph. It particularly focuses on the contributions of the book in relation to the Marrakesh Treaty by highlighting the successes of its formulation, global implementation, and practical impact so far. The challenges it has faced in facilitating access to copyrighted works are outlined, accompanied by a robust array of recommendations for the way forward. While these recommendations are primarily directed towards key international and national stakeholders involved in the work of the Marrakesh Treaty, they are also of academic interest to scholars researching on the Treaty and in the areas of copyright and disability rights law. Overall, it reiterates the importance of resolving the global book famine and ensuring persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled enjoy equal access to the written word.
