Abstract

Digital strategies and transformation are all-pervasive and impact every part of an organisation, whether customer-facing, internal, or support functions. Given the nature of the change, people form a critical part of digital strategies. Digital strategy implementation is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), supported by the Chief Experience Officers (CXOs), and managed at every level within an organisation. This chapter outlines the role of people in digital strategies and the characteristics and skills required at the individual and organisational levels. It will also help readers understand the types of leadership and the roles of senior leaders such as the CEO and the Chief Digital Officer (CDO). The chapter then focuses on the various types of organisational structures that support innovation and transformation. Finally, the chapter deals with the culture and skills required for a successful digital organisation.
