Abstract

The artificial separation created between nature and culture and fostered in modern and contemporary societies leads to an understanding of climate change as a phenomenon caused by humans. The term anthropogenic climate change aims to distinguish the natural variability of the climate from the effects of human activities on the climate. While some part of humanity is responsible for the accelerated global warming of the atmosphere, attributing it to humanity as a whole does not do justice to those cultures and communities whose practices have not been impacting the environment like capitalist, fossil-fueled cultures.
