Intergenerational Approach to Climate Action Experiences in a University Museum of Contemporary Art in Argentina
Abstract
Since the second half of the 20th century, changes in the atmosphere and ocean have been observed due to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases. However, implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies can reduce the impact of risks associated with climate change. In this context, the role of culture stands out as a global public good, with its fundamental role in sustainable development and the importance of integrating heritage into international debates on climate change. The protection of cultural heritage allows implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies to the effects of climate change. While the Paris targets are not being met and the adverse impacts of climate change are already being felt, heritage has immense potential to enable inclusive, transformative, and just climate action. Considering these scenarios, different intergenerational experiences of climate action were carried out, based on teaching, research, and extension activities, which have as a case study the Beato Angelico Museum of Contemporary Art. The activities were carried out by professors, researchers, and students of the Mac Kay High School, the Research Institute on Architecture and Territory, and the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Catholic University of La Plata.
