Building the strengths of justice-involved people
Abstract
This chapter discusses the need to identify, develop, and implement strengths-based trauma-informed interventions in forensic services. It draws on the dual-continua model as one way to highlight the importance of interventions and programmes that aim to draw upon and build the psychological and environmental strengths and resources of those in forensic services. Two examples are provided of interventions that illustrate this approach, although we conclude that further work is required to integrate the delivery of trauma-focussed treatments with trauma-informed strengths-based interventions.
