Abstract

Aiming to contribute to the ongoing struggle for the human rights of marginalized communities through a literary lens, Cherechés delves into the perspective of Yashica Dutt regarding Dalit human rights and the pressing need for their amelioration in contemporary India. Dutt, a prominent Dalit writer and activist, draws upon her personal experiences to tackle the issue of Dalit human rights. Her memoir Coming Out as Dalit (2019) not only sheds light on the deep-rooted caste prejudices and the ongoing discrimination, marginalization, and systemic oppression faced by Dalits, but also reflects her journey of self-realization as a Dalit woman and ultimately contributes to a broader understanding of the urgency for equal rights and dignity for her community. By showcasing the power of literature in bringing forth marginalized voices, challenging oppressive systems, and envisioning a more just future, Cherechés seeks to contribute to the broader movement for social change and the advancement of human rights for all.
