Abstract

How do educators prepare students for the world of tomorrow? How can teachers make the 8-hour school day meaningful to each student and give students the tools to be successful? Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students the opportunity to gain real world skills while in compulsory education. Forget everything you thought you knew about “vocational education”. Today’s CTE is not a fallback option; it is the strategic blueprint for the 21st-century workforce, directly shaping the innovators, problem-solvers, and essential professionals our world desperately needs. Over the past two decades, CTE has transformed the way educators are thinking about the purpose of schools. As a CTE teacher, administrator, or student reading this book, you know the importance of providing CTE classes to students. In 2023, 11.3 million students were engaged in CTE programs ( Galvan, 2024 ). This number only continues to grow as CTE becomes more accessible to students. But with this core belief, what is the best way to teach content, practical skills, and professional? This book seeks to answer this question and provide strategies to use in the classroom to give students the best education possible and ultimately be successful in a job where things can be constantly changing.
